When we first purchased the home we transformed into The Vintage Round Top, we never would have imagined how it would change it our lives. We grew to love the space and feel grateful to share it with others. One the years, we’ve hosted hundreds of people, from antique shoppers to wedding guests, and everyone in between. We’ve been able to share the Round Top magic with so many, and it truly makes us so happy.

Alyssa Rosenheck, Nashville-based architectural photographer and stylist, will be one of our panelists for our upcoming Business, Branding & Social Media Workshop on September 22, 2018. Alyssa is a true joy and inspiration — she is as kind as she is talented, and lives each day to the fullest. Alyssa’s background is in the corporate world, but after picking up a camera and subsequently being diagnosed with cancer, she was thrust onto a new life trajectory.

Shea McGee, interior designer and Chief Creative Officer of Studio McGee, will be one of our panelists for our upcoming Business, Branding & Social Media Workshop on September 22, 2018. Shea got her start in the interior design industry after graduating with a degree in Public Relations, but soon realizing that designing homes was her true passion. With her ‘vanilla’ tract home acting as her canvas, her design skills started to catch the eye of friends and neighbors.

For the past several years, we’ve gathered twice a year at the cottages with entrepreneurs, shop owners, photographers, florists, calligraphers, designers, and more for our Business, Branding & Social Media Workshop. We’ve seen strangers become friends (and even business partners!) and witnessed the spark of creativity unfold over the course of just one day. Our attendees always leave feeling inspired and motivated to put their learnings to use in their own businesses, with notebooks full of inspiration.

We love the antiques business for so many reasons. The main one being the stories behind the merchandise we buy and sell. We've always felt the souls of those that either made or owned vintage pieces are past down as well. So, when we had a chance to buy a large lot of items from the Shudde Bros., we couldn't wait to find out their story.

If you've followed our journey for any length of time, you know our mantra of Living With Intention is the sole reason The Vintage Round Top exists. You can read about how our causal afternoon drive turned into a lodging business and lifestyle brand here. Today, I'm sharing another person's story about being intentional, setting goals, and putting fear aside to reach out to a stranger with an idea.

We're rounding out our three-part series on our shoot with LoveBash Designs, Hannah Haston Photography, Posey Floral, Wedding Wellness, and models Ashley of Fancy Ashley and Brittany Wheeler with some bridal brunch inspiration! Carmen of LoveBash styled a colorful, spring-inspired spread in the No. 1450 dining room where we toasted to a fun day of collaborating with such a talented group. The light-filled room made the perfect backdrop for the brightly colored florals and citrus fruits.

Today’s post is a little different than those we usually share in the interest of letting you 'behind the curtain' of running a business. Although we often share about fun collaborations, vintage shopping trips, and the homes we’ve lovingly curated, I can assure you that everything is not fabulous all the time and the tough life stuff does affect our business.

This Father’s Day, I’m reminiscing on the traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. I consider myself blessed to have had the absolute best father in the world. Growing up, it was always special to be able to use my creativity to make a gift by hand for him. I think I can speak for my father and certainly for Smoot in saying that there’s no better present than one that’s made from love and thoughtfulness. Whether that looks like handmade notes or intentionally carving out time together, I always love seeing our children spoil Smoot in their own special ways each year.

A relaxing weekend in the country always feels like the perfect escape. My cares tend to melt away as soon as I hit Highway 237 and I can breathe a sigh of relief as I pull up to the cottages. A lovely group of ladies got to experience something similar a few weeks ago at a Yamuna Body Rolling retreat hosted by Michelle Gregovic and Dianne Glass.

With summer quickly approaching and the kids’ school year winding down, my mind wanders to thoughts of family time and road trips. As new-ish Austin residents, we are so appreciative of the short drives to so many wonderful places nearby. Being able to hop in the car on a Saturday afternoon and end up in the Texas wine country or on a back road enjoying the scenery is one of my favorite parts about living here.

Earlier this month, we gathered at the cottages with a lovely group of ladies and the talented Marcia Smart of Smart in the Kitchen to cook up some ‘Derby de Mayo’ recipes during our second cooking retreat. After several days of rain in Texas, the sunny skies provided a beautiful backdrop for learning and creating new friendships.

Continuing on our Boho collaboration series, today we’re featuring Jon Dahl of Jonathon Dahl Woodworks. Jon is a dear friend of ours and we knew he would be the perfect person to create the sophisticated cabinetry we had in mind for our Boho cottage. Our goal was not just to add cabinets to the space, but rather make them appear as furniture, seamlessly integrated into each room. The detail and intricacy of his work is remarkable, and we feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to work with him.

On a beautiful spring day earlier last month, we gathered together with a wonderful group of creative collaborators to shoot lifestyle scenes in the cottages. In addition to highlighting our collaboration team's talents, we also wanted to depict the flexibility of the property and the various ways it can be used for both small and large groups alike.

Our Mother's Day traditions are simple, but so dear to my heart.  Smoot and our children always prepare a special breakfast in bed before we head off to church. Then we enjoy brunch together and spend time as a family for the rest of the afternoon. Days like Mother's Day remind me of how blessed I am and how much I cherish our time together.

Today we're sharing our collaboration with Forrest Middleton, a mastermind potter, tile maker and educator who lives in Petaluma, California. We worked with Forrest to find the most beautiful, unique tile for our bathrooms in the Boho cottage. We originally found Forrest's work through Cle Tile, and now Forrest has begun to sell directly through his website.

Spring is such a special time of year, with extra sunny days and the rich greenery all around. If you’re local to Texas, you’ve probably been enjoying the warmer temperatures for several weeks. If you’re still stuck in the snow, hopefully this post will at least help the inside of your home feel a bit more spring-like!
