Country Living has long been one of my favorite magazines. I never anticipated how much of an impact one magazine would have on me in just one year. Right after The Vintage Round Top was featured in February 2014, I got a call from my good friend, Becki Griffin of Curious Details. She was booked to style a CL feature on Holly Kuhn from Old Glory Antiques in Burton, Texas and asked me to assist her. I've worked on three Country Living shoots since.
One of those jobs was Jolie Sikes' amazing kitchen. Her feature is in the June 2015 issue with Miranda Lambert on the cover.
I cannot describe how cute this kitchen is. So colorful, so Junk Gypsy! Jolie and her husband built their new house from the ground up. The kitchen is the heart of their home and is full of life! It was such a fun day working with Jolie, Becki, and the rest of the CL team.
The feature was photographed by Annie Schlecter, whom I've had the privileged of working with on all three shoots. The three images below were taken by her.
This next photo was taken from my iPhone before we began to prep the space. We usually have a day to prep/style and two days to shoot a full house feature. Since this was the kitchen only, we prepped, shot, and put her kitchen back together in just one day. Whew!
Becki was getting a little help with the flower arrangement from a friend.
At the end of a long week of shooting (we also did a 3 day shoot with Christi from The Brown Shed in Burton), Becki and I decided to bid farewell with a bit ragged selfie. We LOVE what we do and the opportunities to get to do it together. I'm so proud of her and all of her accomplishments. She's a styling rock star and an amazing friend!
This is the cover of the current Country Living Magazine that Jolie's feature is in. Pick it up fast as it's almost time for a new issue to come out.
I've included the page with Jolie's photo on it. She is such a sweet, down to earth, hard working girl. I feel blessed to call her a friend and am so happy for her and her family's success with the Junk Gypsy Co. They have done so much good for the Round Top community and are examples of what Dreams and Hard Work can do together!
