PART 2 - SHOPPING + DINING

SHOP TILL YOU DROP

If there was one undeniable highlight of The Vintage Round Top Shopping Retreat, it was- of course- the shopping. From the very beginning, I knew our friends at The Original Round Top Antique Show (aka the Big Red Barn) and Blue Hills would be the perfect partners for this experience, and they delivered in every way.

One of the standout perks for our group was early entry into the Big Red Barn, the venue that not only launched the Round Top Antique Show as we know it today, but also pioneered the Winter Show itself. Stepping into that space ahead of the crowds felt incredibly special and set the tone for the days ahead.

Several retreat guests found some of their most meaningful and favorite pieces there- treasures that will forever hold a story tied to this experience. It was a beautiful reminder that when shopping is paired with access, intention, and community, the magic truly happens.

Our next stop was Blue Hills, where we kicked things off at one of my favorite vendors of the entire show: East End Salvage. Blue Hills has grown so expansively over the years that we decided to be strategic - starting on the original side before breaking for a quick (and delicious) lunch from Artisan Market in the Garden & Gun Lounge, then continuing on to explore all of the barns on the newest side.

From there, we made our way to The Compound, where our ladies were welcomed with a cocktail or mocktail of their choice at the courtyard bar—graciously hosted by owner, Mark Massey. Refreshed and ready, we wandered through the surrounding barns filled with incredible vendors, including The White Barn, owned by my longtime friend Lori Smithers. Fun fact: I met Lori thirteen years ago on a shopping retreat called Vagabond Travel, led by Mary Baskin. It was in the South of France, while I was being mentored by Tim and Carol Bolton. It’s such sweet memory - and still makes me pause and pinch myself.

Next, we headed to The Horeshoe, one of the fastest-growing venues and home to so many standout vendors. This stop brought a little extra buzz and we spotted Joanne Gaines from Magnolia, Kendra Scott and Zac Brown while sourcing some incredible finds. We uncovered countless pieces that stopped us in our tracks and ran into old friends from Prize Antiques, Teressa Foglia, House Wren, and The Farmloft, truly too many gems to name.

Our final stop of the day was The Halles, while a few opted to put their feet up back at the property, which is conveniently located directly across the street. After a full day of shopping, stories, and discoveries, it was the perfect close to an unforgettable Round Top experience.

Our final day began with an exciting stop at Junk Gypsy, where everyone was thrilled to meet Aimee Sikes and explore both the junk barn and retail store. From there, we headed to Cisco Village, which quickly became a favorite, complete with a little bubbly for those who wanted to sip while browsing. The variety of vendors and character-filled buildings made it such a fun place to wander.

Excess I + II offered a different pace, giving attendees a contrast with some vendors offering a taste of true “picking” which was a highlight for many.

We wrapped up the day at Market Hill, which proved to be the perfect refuge from the cold, misty weather ahead of the incoming storm. Beyond the warmth, it showcased an entirely different range of vendors and merchandise, rounding out the day with yet another layer of what makes Round Top so special.

DINNER + nightcap

Round Top is home to some truly incredible restaurants-on par with those in much larger cities, and while our time only allowed for two, both were memorable. Boon & Co. was a standout, with a beautifully designed space, vibrant energy, and food that more than lived up to the buzz.

For lunch, we stopped at Garden & Co., a beloved local staple. Its modern vintage aesthetic, layered with natural elements, is right up my alley, and the brussels sprouts alone are worth the visit. It was a quick stop, but just what we needed to refuel and keep the shopping momentum going.

The evening ended with a perfect surprise - gathering around the fire pits outside of Boon + Co. Watching everyone relax, laugh, and enjoy time with new friends, with a little Round Top magic in their hair, is truly why I do what I do.

We then headed back to our own fireplace in the Boho for one of my favorite moments of the retreat: Show + Tell night. Each guest had the chance to share their finds and the stories behind them, filling the room with oohs and aahs, laughter, and a deep sense of camaraderie.

We’re already dreaming up our next retreat. If you’d like to be the first to know when it’s announced and what’s in store, click the link below to add your name to our list.
