I love the space where modern and vintage meet. For us, it is a lifestyle and a design style. It’s a lifestyle that embraces the balance of modern thoughts, ideas, and conveniences and timeless stories, sustainability, and slow living. And it’s a design style that pairs unlikely items together to create something beautiful and unique.
The design of the cottages at The Vintage Round Top is where it all began. We brought in vintage statement pieces, like cow feed sifters, farm tables, and flour sifters, and paired them with modern touches, like a material called Topcrete, brass counter tops, and glamorous accent pieces.
I’m moved by how each vintage piece tells a unique story and, for the most part, is unlike anything anyone else has in their home. At the same time, though, the vintage pieces compliment the simplicity of the modern features and elements. It’s a design style that has depth and complexities, but that people feel so comfortable in.
Social distancing (thanks Coronavirus!) has given, or, better yet, demanded attention to my own four walls. I want the space that my family and I live in to be just as beautiful and intentionally designed as the cottages in Round Top. I truly believe that the way our house feels and looks makes a huge difference in our attitude, mood, and frame of mind. So, as I’m decorating the house we just moved into, I’m slowing down to make sure the pieces I’m decorating with are ones that I love and represent this modern + vintage design.
