Preparing for the Round Top Holiday Home Tour was a lot of fun and fairly easy for two reasons. First off, we invited Barbara from Lark Boutique in Round Top to collaborate with us. Secondly, decorating Modern Vintage style doesn't take enormous effort. In fact, the simple, clean and rustic style is what it's all about. It's letting nature and time work in harmony.
We used live greenery, cedar trees and garland paired with vintage vessels and antique elements. Rustic skis (that were actually my late father's pair), skates, and an antique French child's berry basket complete a meaningful vignette on the porch as you enter our home. A wicker basket below, full of pine cones with a small branch of greenery, is all you need to for a little country charm.
Barbara brought these naturally shed, caribou antlers to use as our dining room table centerpiece. They were so dramatic and only needed a few berry stems, pine cones, and our RVT candles to complete the look.
Our homemade advent calendar was a hit with Home Tour visitors as well as our kids! We'll be sharing a "how-to" post on our take of this holiday tradition next week.
On the blog tomorrow, we'll be talking about a great organization to "give back" to during the holidays. We hope you'll check back for details.
