SHOP OUR AMSTERDAM STORY - VOLUME 1

I’ve always been one to love the thrill of the hunt. Traveling to a new place to search for our next greatest treasure is the very thing that gives me the drive and inspiration to find those perfect vintage pieces that fit right into The Vintage Round Top web shop, and ultimately, into your home!

Oh, but the stories these pieces have to tell as they have lived a life far beyond what we may ever know. I always reflect on how grateful I am that I too, get to be part of it’s story - and it a part of mine.

For our newest collection, we traveled to the Netherlands’ capitol of Amsterdam. Known for its artistic heritage, elaborate canal system and narrow houses with gabled facades - I couldn’t wait to touch down with Smoot and the kids and begin our hunt for the new web shop items.

Not only are the kids wonderful travel companions, but they also get a glimpse into a passion we can only hope to pass on to them. Having them involved in the shopping process, and teaching them the critical eye for vintage sourcing is such a treat! (And let’s face it, our girls look pretty adorable hauling around one of the lovely trunks we found in one of Amsterdam’s flea markets.)

They each had a specific job throughout our trip - Pierce was in charge of keeping an ongoing list of items we purchased along with their pricing, Eisley and Cameron were our photographers and posted stories on social media from our trip and purchases. All of them contributed to finding the treasures, bringing cool items to our attention that we may have otherwise missed.

We consider ourselves so blessed that we get to do this for a living and even more so that we get to share the experience with our children. We hope that you find inspiration and connection in the items that we brought back just as much as we did, and choose to continue the story of these pieces in your home.

SET OF THREE GERMAN POETRY BOOKS

As soon as we laid eyes on this beautiful blue set of vintage poetry books, there was no way we were leaving Amsterdam without them.

Published by an Austrian author, and fully in German, these decorative books would make the perfect gift for the collector in your family. Or, keep them for yourself as a charming accent to any surface of your home

FRENCH DECORATIVE TIN

Found in the Arles region of southern France, we loved the typography and distressed look of this decorative tin. What looks like it once housed Pralines, now will surely be a conversation starter in your home.

In good condition, the lovely imperfections and signs of wear give way to the tins age - it’s what we love most about this find!

VINTAGE DUTCH DEMITASSE SPOON SET

With a beautifully stamped crest on the handle, these vintage spoons hail from the Dutch province of Ootmarsum in the Netherlands. Boasting a lovely pearlescent patina and in near perfect condition - all 12 spoons are included in this velvety blue boxed set.

FRENCH LEATHER LUNCH BOX

This French Leather Lunchbox was found in Uzes, a small town in Provence. Stamped onto the top of it’s leather lid, the initials “N.F.S” give us a glimpse of who used to use this to tote their lunch to work.

This would be perfect for anyone looking for a special picnic box set, enough space to handle food items for 2 on a romantic afternoon, or, re-purpose as a conversation piece to add to your bookshelf.
