There's a new joint in town and we could not think of a better spot to feature in our inaugural #RTTX weekly feature. Stop by Mondays for features on #RTTX restaurants, shops, makers or can't-miss events.
The Garden Company has a new location in Rummel Square. The 1914 farmhouse was moved to Round Top from Carmine and completely redone. The interior is worth a visit itself. Stevie, the amazing proprietor, had cedar roots dug up, stripped, scrubbed (some by Stevie herself) and hung in the main dining room and they do not disappoint.
The menu is refreshing and seasonal, paired perfectly with their craft cocktail menu.
The original Garden Company "Cafe and Marketplace" in Schulenburg is a local's favorite. The Round Top outpost, to separate the two, is the "Feed and Firewater" rendition. The staff all wear shirts with the logo and they set the tone for the casual atmosphere that welcomes anything from jeans and boots to your Sunday best. Open just a month, the Round Top outpost is quickly growing its following. Smoot and I have been 3 times in 2 weeks, if that tells you anything.
The back patio, which features live music every other Thursday, is beneath one of Round Top's largest and oldest Live Oak trees (over 200 years old). You have to see it to believe it, it truly is a perfect patio with the branches lit up and the breeze rustling the leaves. You'll know where to find us on Thursdays!
Their claim to fame (or one of them), is the brussels sprouts. Just enough sweet, not too spicy and sure to turn anyone into a fan.
The french fries are downright addicting and always crispy.
The duck confit quesadilla is rich and indulgent and perfect to share.
We are so happy they are now part of the Round Top family and can't wait to try Sunday Brunch!
Check back next week for the second installment of #RTTX and let us know what other #RTTX businesses you'd like us to feature!
