Nestled along Henkel Square, the Dapper Deer Co. is a curated vintage men's goods shop. Run by John and Eric Alexander, Dapper Deer serves as a mercantile on one side and a vintage shop on the other. The quaint shop with fireplaces on either side is hard to miss, their signature "dapper deer" greets you upon arrival. He is one-part British and lots Texan! He was the very first "dapper" fellow and just ask Eric, he will tell you all about it!
During our visit Eric shared the plans for the shop's reorganization and we can't wait to see what they do with it! Browsing the vintage side, the decor is almost as interesting as the clothing. John began "dressing up" their taxidermy deer heads and the rest is, well, history. Many spiffied up deer adorn the walls, each with a very separate theme and color palette. They are festooned with pipes, hats and scarves.
In addition to collecting the vintage goods for sale, John makes incredible repurposed speakers out of vintage horns and reclaimed wood. The sound is amazing and they are definitely one of a kind!
The scented candles that waft through the shop set the mood. It's manly, it's friendly, it's familiar. You can truly feel the thought and dedication to their brand through the selection of goods they carry.
Eric is always up for a chat and loves to share his future plans for their growing company. When he is not tending the shop, he is exploring all that Round Top has to offer. This little town is growing and we'll count ourselves lucky if everyone is as wonderful as the dapper gentlemen of Dapper Deer.
As a company that started in Bastrop, John and Eric have followed their purpose to Round Top, they love the community, the spirit and the lifestyle. We love nothing more than witnessing people Live with Intention and John and Eric are doing just that by following their dreams and making it happen.
